Discovered Zucchero on American cable system featuring RAI (Italian television station); we started buying his CDs and swiftly became hooked.Charming and gritty like a sexy Cocker, his words envelope you while hismelodies send you around the world. 'Sugar' sings in both Italian &English (switches back and forth from line to line sometimes) -- softsultry ballads, swooning r&b, and he can also rock pretty hard.If youlove music you'll adore Zucchero!

I was strolling on the Champs Elysee in Paris a few years back, wandered into the big Tower Record store and "found" this amazing album being played at many of their headphone "listening" stations.It was a must buy, must have, must play repeatedly album.There is not a bad song on the album.Zucchero's voice has always reminded me of another of my favorite singers ... Joe Cocker.So, if you love Joe Cocker's raw, gut-wrenching, spine-tingling, emotive music ... buy anything you can find by Zucchero ... you'll love the sugar-man, as I do. This is definately a DID (desert island disc) ... the one you'd most want to have with you to survive SURVIVOR!

It is a real shame that this album only has one review, so I thought I would correct that.
After just spending five months living in Italy, listening to this CD had brought me back to the dance, the people and the culture! Alessandra's voice carried the haunting spectacle of the tarantula ceremony's essence to my ears in the States and brings longing for me to be among the most amazing people of an un-Euro Italian culture again.

Great album for anyone collecting the Italian Bluesman's music. Don't expect a CD full of hispassionate love ballads. Oh child, this disc gets you rocking! The best advice is to get some Sugar in your life and get thisCD!
When you listen to this album, voices ring true and clear with the gusto of "WE ARE THE RED CAVALRY" and "SONG OF THE VOLGA BOATMEN" seem to jump out at you.These recordings are priceless and have brought the years to the forefront, when this male choir took first place at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1937.
The CD is nice - but I have to say, I've rarely dealth with a company so interested in taking care of their customers.Great communication, fast shipping - excellent!
This album now rates as my favorite from among the lute music offerings readily available from commericial sources in the US.Ronn MacFarlane plays enthusiastically and dynamically, and the great affinity he seems to have for the songs is readily transmitted through the recording.There is nothing monotonous here: each rendition sparkles.Here is an album you can listen to again and again, eagerly anticipating every listen.

This was one of the first recordings of early music I ever bought.It's a broad survey of styles and periods, from the 12th to 17th centuries.I've become a more sohisticated listener since then, but I still get this one out fairly regularly.The recording is apparently old and the digital remastering was not done extraordinarily well, but those who are more interested in music than in audio equipment should be able to listen through the occasional (minor) vinyl surface noise.My major complaint (why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4) is the lack ofdocumentation--there is no information about the musicians, and many of the composers are uncredited (some because they actually are anonymous, but sometimes out of apparent laziness).Still, at this price it's a bargain.
This compilation offers the most popular themes and familiar tunes in small doses, in a sampler.Unless you've lived under a rock, you can't have helped but have heard of some of these tunes, whether at a wedding, or as background music to some action scene in a movie.You get 4 CDs for the price of 1, so it's a great value, and who cares if they are not the most famous orchestras or performers.The only thing is that the pieces are somewhat abridged, and are designed to please the uninitiated, hence ear-candy.Good enough to whet your appetite for something more substantial and a start a music appreciation.
Though not being a professional in music, this piece really caputured my attention, it has a special way to leave a lasting impression.I really, enjoyed the rhythm and flow of this piece of music.Beautiful dance numberand very romantic.The steady beat, keeps the passions soaring.
