Blue Sugar [Import] Review

Blue SugarI was strolling on the Champs Elysee in Paris a few years back, wandered into the big Tower Record store and "found" this amazing album being played at many of their headphone "listening" stations. It was a must buy, must have, must play repeatedly album. There is not a bad song on the album.Zucchero's voice has always reminded me of another of my favorite singers ... Joe Cocker. So, if you love Joe Cocker's raw, gut-wrenching, spine-tingling, emotive music ... buy anything you can find by Zucchero ... you'll love the sugar-man, as I do. This is definately a DID (desert island disc) ... the one you'd most want to have with you to survive SURVIVOR!

Shake Review

ShakeI was in a familiar coffee shop in Munich when I first heard this CD.The disc so intrigued me that I asked the owner and she kindly showed me the disc.I immediately went to the WOM (world of music) shop down the street and purchased the disc. The closest word I can imagine is enchanting. The music and words pull you in and you can't help but enjoy this album.

With Joyful Voice: Christmas Music of Eight Centuries [Box set] Review

With Joyful Voice: Christmas Music of Eight Centuries [Box set]These three excellently produced CDs evoke medieval manor houses, renaissance courts, and baroque choir boys as we hear Christmas music, fresh to our ears from another time and place. We hear familiar Christmas carols as well, but in their original setting.A mood of quiet joy pervades the presentation.

Miserere [Import] Review

Miserere [Import]I buy and sell used CDs on Amazon, and this "hobby" affords me to get to try out and keep some great music for myself.Zucchero's Misere is one of these keepers. I ususally know within a few notes if I want to burn a copy for myself, and with this guy, I knew it FAST...after the first few operatic notes, it starts DRIVING with a rhythm I KNEW i had heard before...the second song sounds like PRIME day ( late 60s) Joe Cocker with Santana's drummer...thats because it IS Santana's drummer, the FANTASTIC Michael Shrieve, from the Woodstock-era Santana....what a combination !!! and what a GREAT ROCK ALBUM....sounds like the BEST of the 60s and 70s come BACK TO LIFE....I'll be buying more of the sugarman....marty smith

The Classic Ocarina Review

The Classic OcarinaThe Chuckerbutty Ocarina Quartet proves here that good musicianship and lots of fun can co-exist sensationally. For an ear sated with the standards this CD will jog you out of the rut while it shows what can be done with an unconventional instrument. The Carnival of Venice variations is an awesome display of virtuosity, and very enjoyable as light music (between variations don't be surprised to hear a quote from some familiar classic). The Beethoven 5th will not go down as an historic interpretation, but it's fun! Overall the disk has variety, humor, and fine playing, and it's a great conversation piece. I recommend it with pleasure.

Spirito DiVino [Extra tracks, Import] Review

Spirito DiVinoAlthough this is not the latest album from his large collection it's the most memorable. If you're not familiar with Zucchero's work, you'll be pleasantly surprised by his blues/funk/rock style. Listen to sound samplesat Zucchero's Official Website, if they don't have them listed here. Ifyou're just starting your Zucchero collection, stray away from the abumswith songs that he's either translated or sung originally in English. Forsome reason, his raspy style of belting out tunes works best in Italian.
